It has been quite some time since I have been in the academic realm that being said this opportunity to be apart of this free/gratis course I cannot express my gratitude enough . I am approaching CRT course as a white female; 30-ish; blended family (pretty much a smoothie lol) with a small degree of college level Sociology Psychology & Chicano Studies. My personal knowledge (self taught research & academic education ) & immersion within the Chicano Culture (reside 15 minutes away from the us Mexico border) my internal identification with physical & mental disablement - a personal social/familia dynamic of conflicting racism/bigotry/homophobia has solidified my stance on addressing the issues on both intimate (self& family) & community levels. I want to be as authentic as possible which is easier anonymously for me, and to learn how I can apply CRT not just the research and curriculum, but in a tangible way. NOT so I can be an "ambassador" or want to be an " authority of power". Rather to be a better ally -self advocate or when appropriate an advocate for others- gain access to resources & share them - address personal assumptions I have regarding race & ethics & intrigued to know what others may assume about me too- change... challenge or confirm the positions I hold right now. Yes I admit I have a lot of self interests for this class but just like the name of the class includes the word critical am hoping my ability to take criticism will be better. I apologize I have difficulty finding the right words and ramble, but after reading all of your positionalites thought what the heck give it a shot... better late then never! -Nati

You just gave me the license to send my next academic submission via my phone! i almost did the same thing. I really appreciate your comment about not being an "ambassador", your self reflection in general, and your explicit openness around criticism/feedback.

My conviction or concept of wanting to stray away from being an “ambassador” is because after reading one of Angela Davis (numerous) books & I hate to admit simply googling “How to be a ally as a white person” it was said that no matter the movement be it BLM-DACA-DAPL etc the media or other people will automatically go to the white person and ask them about the movement or protest, which the next day on the news (after Charlottesville) they interviewed the sole white person as to why they were there. I would direct them to the leader of the movement, or only make statements and quote them by the founder etc. I am supporting , but I should take zero credit. I will be replying to your take a knee discussion later as I have much to say, and glean information from others & feedback. Yes the app makes things much easier! And I am not an Ivy Leaguer myself which is why I was late for the positionality paper too... rewriting editing over and over to make sure I sounded like I had a higher level of competency in CRT.
